In the summer of 1989, 6th graders Boko, Joe, and Junichi are on their last summer vacation as elementary school students.
As if to cut through their daily routine, the monster Gyaos attacks Tokyo.
A new monster appears in front of the boys, who are targeted by Gyaos in the ruined town.
Its name is Gamera. Gamera fights Gyaos despite its injuries.
That was the beginning of the boys' "Summer of Monsters.
